As a research affiliate at the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration and independent software/data engineer, I focus on developing methods to find, access, integrate, and re-use, biodiversity data. My background in software engineering, (data) science, data integration, and digital infrastructure development allow me to enable "impossible" data harmonization of large, complex and heterogeneous biodiversity datasets using frugal tools and modest hardware.

In 2013, I helped create Global Biotic Interactions (GloBI) to provide open access to finding species interaction data (e.g., predator-prey, pollinator-plant, pathogen-host, parasite-host) by combining existing open datasets using open source software. Since, as I've continued to lead and sustain GloBI, I've contributed to software tools like Nomer, Preston, Elton and participated in collaborative projects like Terrestrial Parasite Tracker, Big Bee, WorldFAIR, the Open Traits Network, GBatNet Ecological Interactions Working Group, and started initiatives like https://linker.bio

.

My goal in developing these tools and participating in these collaborative projects is to empower individual researchers to work with, and create, re-usable open biodiversity data.

More of my projects, research, and citations can be found on Google Scholar.
